The WOTC 2020 Collection

March 2020 brought the Compassion Issue highlighting the incredible work, Noella Coursaris Musunka has done in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Dr Emma Amoafo-Mensah the former NHS doctor, now dermatologist, spoke on how she risked her life saving thousands at the height of the virus.

Our May/June issue introduced four cover girls for our Health: The New Beauty Issue, featuring World renowned makeup artist Bobbi Brown, the beauty godmother Tracey Woodward, TreasureTress’ Jamelia Donaldson and Caren Fisk; the woman who has revived and started many careers.

Our July issue; The Future of Fashion, spoke about embracing the new systems within the fashion industry and saw covergirls Conna Walker founder of House of CB, Mariya Dykalo of Aspinal of London and Jo Tutchener-Sharp of Scamp & Dude share their stories. We also introduced ‘the fashion frontline’ featuring two luxury retail client advisors from Saint Laurent and Dolce & Gabbana, and Prada’s and Miu’s Miu’s European buyer. We wanted to highlight the incredible work also being done in retail.

Our August issue; the EntreprenHER Issue, was dedicated to the WOTC Community and every single entrepreneur. We welcomed 12 covergirls consisting of Real Techniques’ duo Nicola & Samantha Chapman, Jo Malone CBE, Rodial’s Maria Hatzistefanis, The Dots’ Pip Jamieson, young entrepreneur Grace Beverley, who founded Shreddy and TALA, Irene Forte of Rocco Forte Hotels, Fanny Moizant of Vestiaire Collective, Emma Jones of Enterprise Nation, global makeup artist Ruby Hammer, Caroline Popoola of Alpha Childcare and Rachel Shaw of Subway.

Our October issue; the Entertainment Issue saw an incredible 38 cover girls and a powerful Black History Month campaign ‘A Letter to My Younger Self’. The campaign impacted hundreds of thousands across the globe and was able to be viewed across prime London Underground stations. Cover girls included British actress Ella Balinska, Forbes Africa’s Peace Hyde, global celebrity makeup artist Nikki Makeup, British Labour MP Dawn Butler, and founder of UOMA Beauty, Sharon Chuter.

We also used this issue as an opportunity to give one exceptional female brand a chance to share their story by being a giver girl amongst the power players. Tiba + Marl founded in 2015, were selected out of thousands of applicants and had their very own WOTC cover.

We ended 2020 with 22 female leaders who decided to be intentional about starting their 2021, by making a pledge for change with our #IPLEDGE campaign. 17-year-old Christina Adane pledged to continue her. British Beauty Council’s Millie Kendall MBE pledged to continue to her fight to abolish child food poverty. We also invited you to join in and pledge along with our cover girls. We will be displaying your pledges all throughout 2021.

Our platform has also allowed many of the women from our community who found their entrepreneurial flair during the pandemic, to tell their stories.

I’m not able to mention every single one of the amazing women we have featured across our glossy pages as there’s far too many but myself and the WOTC team would like to sincerely thank you all for allowing us to tell your story.

To our readers, the ones who have been on the journey with us from the very beginning to the ones who have joined along the way, we thank you.

2020 brought over 60 cover girls, 100 features and 3 campaigns. We can’t wait to show you just what 2021 has in store.
