Christina Adane
Activist, Board Member & Co-chair of Bite Back 2030
17-year-old Christina Adane is a next generation leader. From a young age, her heart has always been moved towards helping people, which has only led her to take action.
Aged 11-years-old, she orchestrated a non-uniform day at her school to support an Ebola Crisis fund she had created. Each student then paid £1 to participate in wearing pyjamas for the day. In March 2020, following the coronavirus global pandemic, Adane began to call on the government to extend free school meals for a whopping 1.4 million children in the United Kingdom. Adane pioneered a very powerful petition against the government’s decision and on May 27th, her voice was heard, and it was announced that free school meals would continue throughout the May half-term after all.
In November, after a continued fight, 430,997 people had supported her petition and the government finally put together a package of support that would run all the way through until the end of 2021. Adane is also a board member and co-chair of Bite Back 2030; the youth-led organisation seeking to end food poverty for children in the UK and aims to spend her 2021 increasing her fight towards this on an even broader scale.
