Content Creators: The New Supermodels

Edited by Uyi Ilenbs

Less than 10 years ago, the fashion industry had two sides—there were the writers, editors, tastemakers, and then there were the designers. Like so many things, the lines began to blur with increasing regularity. From past WOTC cover girl Lauren Conrad to French fashion editor Carine Roitfeld, those who’ve worked at magazines, styled photo shoots, and covered runway shows have tried their hand at, if not designing, at least collaborating with brands and retailers on one-off capsule collections or full blown fashion lines. While celebrity collaborations used to be the novelty move, bloggers, content creators and influencers have now taken the center stage of the rapidly evolving fashion industry.

‘Content Creators: The New Supermodels’ recognises 9 content creators and influencers around the world from London to New York.

Anja began her Instagram career organically posting pictures from her everyday life which naturally, garnered a following for the Croatian beauty. “At first it was just a hobby for me, when influencers had not yet emerged. Three or four years ago, I started posting photos from my everyday life and that way I gathered a lot of followers. In addition to studying at two universities, at that time I occasionally worked as a model for web shops that sell women's clothing, so I also had more professional photos that I also published on my profile.”
