The A/W Colours You Should Be on the Lookout For
Words Stacey Soluade
With the colder months fast approaching, we couldn't resist getting you style ready for next season's trends.
After more than a year at home amid the pandemic where fashion became both practical and comfortable (with good reason), it's safe to say that as we emerge from restrictions we’re now ready for a pick me up in the style stakes!
The AW21-22 shows were filled with plenty of inspiration with one of the key themes being an array of enticing colours, ranging from energising brights to sophisticated earthy hues, making this a great time to refresh your wardrobe whatever your personal style. Most importantly, next season's shades are all about post-pandemic reflection and helping you to fall back in love with dressing to your best now that we’re able to venture back into the office and attend social events with friends. Here, I’ve rounded up the best of AW21-22 colours that will have you looking and feeling great in the coming months ahead.
Positive Palettes
Bold brights stole the AW21-22 shows, with far more flamboyant colours than usual for the season, these positive and invigorating palettes were featured in the Prada, Off-White, and Molly Goddard collections, showcasing just how well a vibrant look can brighten up any dull winters day. And, after more than 18 months of loungewear, this injection of optimism and glamour is a welcomed change so expect to see these amazing colour-ways everywhere.

Core Classics
Yes, we’re loving the positivity the brighter hues bring but let us not forget about the staple colours which help to form the basis of any stylish wardrobe. These sophisticated muted and monochromatic tones in cream, grey, navy and black were seen at the likes of Jil Sander, Roksanda, and Louis Vuitton. Simple yet sleek means they are a natural fit for your everyday wear that can transcend the seasons, adding a more refined, grown-up feel when paired with denim or jersey pieces.

Back To Nature
You can’t go through the colder months without at least a few essential items to help you feel cosy so the deep and earthy tones that were a staple choice for the likes of Max Mara, Rejina-Pyo, Alberta-Ferretti and 3.1 Phillip Lim, make for a stylish autumnal look. Here we have a more versatile organic colour palette with a sense of heritage meaning timeless pieces that are made to last. WGSN’s collection review explains `The return to trans-seasonal olive was most notable, confirming the importance of natural tones that connect to the outdoors. This trend will continue into 2022 as consumers seek nourishing and restorative colours.’

Perfect Pastels
Those of us who prefer a more subtle use of colour in our everyday attire can breathe a sigh of relief as powdery pastels such as Clear Sky and First Blush were named by Pantone, the global authority on colour, as some of the key shades for London Fashion Week AW21. These delicate and inviting hues were included in the Acne Studios and Elleme AW21 shows and are easy to incorporate into your wardrobe. Perfect for adding a touch of personality to any formal evening or workwear dressing.
