Seasonality is key. For me, this is the starting point and perhaps the pivotal choice you will make around your flower choice. By having seasonal flowers you will ensure you are having the most beautiful blooms for your special day.

If you have dreamed of using a particular flower at your wedding, be careful to plan your date around their seasonality.  Peonies, an all time wedding winner that bloom from spring to early summer are a beautiful failsafe choice, but if you are looking for a date later in the year, Ranunculus are so delicate and romantic and a wonderful alternative for a winter celebration.

Simplicity always works, and especially for weddings. Less can be so much more with strategic placement of delicate and romantic flowers.. My favourite way to make a statement with a bridal bouquet or a centrepiece is to group a bunch of seasonal flowers together. Create drama with an abundance of the same flower, like sweet peas or lily of the valley. The same rule goes for the reception flowers, repetition always works wonderfully when creating an unforgettable table.

By keeping everything seasonal and tonal, it is hard to go wrong. Your flowers will stay timeless and stand the test of time when you look back at the pictures in years to come.

Think about the bigger picture and the story you wish to tell. Keep this in mind when you are thinking of the entire day, from how the flowers will complement the venue to the tablescape and mood you are trying to create for you and your guests. From the vases you use to the tablecloth, silverware and crockery, all these elements should work in harmony with the flowers. The simplicity of these elements lets the flowers be the stars.
