Looking After Your Skin In the Colder Months

During the colder months, your skin doesn't need to be squeaky clean. People sometimes get it wrong by over cleansing, using very hot water or opting for harsh soaps. You might be removing the dirt but you could also be stripping the skin of the moisture that keeps your skin’s barrier intact.
Why not try to reduce the temperature of the water you wash your face with and only exfoliate once (maximum twice) a week. Listen to your skin, it will let you know what's too much. Try to include a hyaluronic acid serum this winter which helps to draw water from the dermis to the epidermis hydrating the upper layer of skin. Why not try the La Roche Posay Hyaluronic B5 serum.
You can also consider getting a shower filter. In certain parts of the country including London, the water running from our showers and taps is hard water. Hard water contains the minerals calcium and magnesium. These minerals can sometimes combine with your skincare products and leave minerals and residual on your skin.
This coupled with the harsh winter weather may lead to irritation, sensitivity and blemish prone skin. You might want to consider getting a shower filter, to remove the harsh minerals and start using a niacinamide serum. Niacinamide is wonderful winter serum. It helps to build up your skins moisture barrier and smooth inflammation. I can recommend a serum from: The Inkey List.
