Maria King: We Are Junius
JUNIUS are the family owned, multi-award-winning brand offering nutritious cold pressed juices. It has been awarded with 15 Nourish Awards in the last 2 consecutive years.
Co-founded by Maria King alongside her two siblings John who is a personal trainer and Paula who is logistics business expert, the company rebranded amid the coronavirus pandemic. It’s menu which upon time only offered London based customers food as well as drinks on the go, has now expanded its range with UK wide delivery for its delicious juices. The JUNIUS range consists of seven colour-coded pillars which are all paired with freshly prepared salads. It begins with the science of food and from there, builds its recipes.
Junius also had lots of success in retail – including a six-month pop-up at Fortnum and Mason and a listing at Sourced Market stores across London including St Pancras.
It all started for King when she begun working in the corporate space. She found herself fatigued all the time and no matter how much she slept, she still didn’t feel great.
Her research on nutrition began 21-years-ago during a time where it wasn’t as widely fundamental as it is now. She began her journey and acquired a masters in personalised nutrition and became a Nutrigenetic Counsellor.
King then went on to study at the Institute for Functional Medicine. She wanted to go deeper and look into prevention. “The fundamental building block is food. We need to eat food to make enzymes and to have our metabolism.”
Feeling guilty with all the knowledge she had, she wanted to share it which led to King being published. JUNIUS came following her desire to reach people like herself, that had little to no time to really seek out and understand what they should be eating. Pairing her product knowledge and her sister’s knowledge of logistics, they did just that.
