Three Leadership Lessons We Learnt From The Queen
You know what they say, the best lessons are ones that are not your own, and if there ever was a person to follow, it would certainly be Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.
Serve to Lead
Queen Elizabeth II once said “I declare before you all that my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great imperial family to which we all belong.” She faithfully devoted her whole life to serving others. She displays leadership from a play of service, she serves to lead. She not only serves those around her, but she serves on behalf of the Nation. Serving as the Queen, the longest remaining monarch in history has meant that she could not always do as she desired, she has had to make numerous sacrifices and remain focused on her constitutional and representational duties.
Be Resilient and Courageous
Queen Elizabeth II has demonstrated continuous resilience and courageousness during her reigning tenure. She has experienced great highs and great lows. She has remained stable and strong during wars, recessions, family scandals, family deaths and a global pandemic. She once stated, "When life seems hard, the courageous do not lie down and accept defeat; instead, they are all the more determined to struggle for a better future. "The Queen has never backed down or taken her eyes and heart of the nation. It took only a few days for the Queen to resume work after the death of Prince Philip which displays true resilience and strengths to keep going no matter issues you may come across each day.
Be Wise and Strategic
The Queen displays a great sense of wisdom alongside her intellectual attributes. The Queen does not make rash decisions or act alone; she has always sought counsel from many advisors and works together with her team. She is able to acknowledge her weaknesses and embrace the strengths around her. She mentioned, “We may hold different points of view, but it is in times of stress and difficulty that we most need to remember that we have much more in common than there is dividing us.”
