Emerging Beauty Brand Nominees

Heather McDowall

Founder of Niche Brow Bar and Niche Brow Co, Heather McDowall refers to herself as the fairy godmother of brows, after entering the beauty industry in 2014. She had always envisioned becoming a makeup artist but initially, did not take any steps towards pursuing her dream as it was not viewed as a serious career at the time.

“I've been doing brows since 2016 and after I started doing them, I realised that it was more for me than makeup. I just found that I had a really natural flair for it. At that time as well, I was going through a really bad stage with my [own] brows. I was trying to figure out how to solve a problem of how to get my brows back and, so although it was a professional journey, it was also an issue that I was dealing with, that I was trying to solve. It worked hand in hand and it just grew from there. I built up a really good clientele, and was achieving really good results for people. It just became my passion.”

“I had always wanted to bring out my own products. I specialize in corrective work and I work with people over a period of time, trying to get their brows to grow back and I always recommended that they use a growth serum at home. So it really made sense for me to bring out my own, so that I could provide my clients with something that was going to speed up their journey and enhance their experience.”

Jacqueline Yong

Jacqueline Yong is the face behind organic, vegan lip care brand Jacqueline Organic. On a mission to bring simplicity back to beauty, the young finance professional turned entrepreneur has an extensive background in finance and as such, held a busy lifestyle particularly before the global pandemic that took place early 2020.

As a beauty lover ever since she was able to purchase her very first lipstick and moisturizer aged 13, the now 27-year-old beauty entrepreneur didn’t like being spoilt for choice when it came to beauty products. Despite being a professional the majority of her life (a path that was led by the influence of her teachers and parents), Jacqueline is also a creative and loved Art as a young girl. Growing up, she would visit Selfridges and the Harrods beauty hall to marvel over the beautiful display of products, as she couldn’t afford to buy any at the time.

She would try the products that she could and would question the sales assistants to gain further knowledge on others. The budding beauty business owner considers Jacqueline Organic as her creative outlet.
