Your Skincare Routine
Words by Rhoda Agyei
As a Senior Aesthetics Practitioner, my day to day activities before the current pandemic consisted of carrying out advanced skin treatments such as laser hair & laser tattoo removal, anti acne treatments through the use of chemical & herbal peels and assisting a dermatologist to name a few.
Now, I wake up and pretty much everything I thought was far fetched is ‘easily’ accessible at my fingertips. I recently consulted a few clients through FaceTime on how they can achieve clearer, brighter skin. It is safe to say that no one’s skin is the same as another therefore, what works for Person A may not necessarily work for Person B. My skin today isn’t how it was 6 months ago and I know it certainly won’t be the same in the next 3 months and on that basis - I constantly need to switch up my routine.
Being out of clinic has allowed me to dive deep into different brands I usually wouldn’t and for that reason I’m super excited to let you all in on my current routine:
Cleanse - Paula’s Choice: Pore Normalising Cleanser:
It’s gel based and I love how it easily dissolves makeup and oil without over stripping my skin’s natural oils. I do this twice daily.
2. Exfoliant - Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser:
Used 2-3 times weekly to help lift off the top dead layer of my skin, revealing fresher smoother skin. I love the textured granules as it gives me that physical exfoliating feel.
3. Tone - Pixie Collagen Tonic:
Used on damp cotton pad to remove any excess residue left behind from cleansing. With its ingredients of collagen and peptides, it also doesn’t strip my skin of its natural oils. Done twice daily too, after cleansing.
4. Serum 1 - Paula’s Choice C15 Boost:
A 15% concentration of vitamin C, with vitamin E. Applied as my first serum to naturally diminish the signs of hyper-pigmentation (dark spots) on my skin, used twice daily.
5. Serum 2 - The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% +B5:
Simply known as collagen in a bottle. You cannot go wrong with hyaluronic acid. Perfect for all skin types. Moisture retention is guaranteed with this, used twice daily.
6. Moisturise - REN Glow Daily Vitamin C Gel Cream:
Yep, you read it right. A luxe gel based cream. Melts into my skin without leaving any residue, all whilst nourishing my skin, brightening and fading away pigmentation, used twice daily.
7. Mask - Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask:
As used and approved by Kim Kardashian West. Perfect for stressed out skin. Combining a mixture of vitamins, ceramics (help form the skin's barrier and help skin retain moisture), antioxidants working together to hydrate and soothe the skin, best used 1-2 times weekly.
