Five Great Events You Can Host in Your Garden

Since the hit of COVID-19 we have all been restricted to staying at home and this has made the use of gardens more favourable. However, now lockdown has been eased it doesn’t mean we are completely out of the woods yet. Freelance Events Coordinator Nothando Mpala shares a few amazing event ideas that we can do in our gardens whilst maintaining social distancing rules.

Here are five great mini events you can host in your gardens whilst maintaining social distancing rules.

1. Mini Music Festival 

A lot of the major festivals have either been cancelled or postponed. But all is not lost as such events as the Cambridge Rock Festival, Glastonbury’s Shangri-La and many more are set to go online at the end of June or early July. Why not have your own festival in your back garden? All you need is speakers, some of your close friends (maximum six) coupled with your favourite drinks and you can recreate the festival experience.

2. Painting And Mocktails

Express your creativity as you sip on a fruity mocktails, this is an event you can host with a couple of friends in your garden or online with friends and people you have never met before. You can create a flyer using canva with a hashtag on your social media page for all your attendees to follow. You will need art supplies, a picture which you would like to paint, your mocktail and a stand for your phone so that you can interact with your audience online with ease.

3. Dance Workout Party 

Health and wellbeing is super important in this season of COVID-19. Although fitness isn’t always easy it doesn’t mean that it must be boring. Research shows that dancing is a great way of reducing stress and boosting your mood. 4. Royal Ascot Tea Party Experience 

Even though the Royal Ascot event has been cancelled the races with still be taking place and it will be broadcasted online. Luckily, this means that you can still attend the Royal Ascot in the comfort of your garden. A tea party whilst watching the race is a great way to reinvent the experience. Make sure you have family members or friends that are committed to dressing up and bringing their best bets forward.

5. BBQ With Friends

Grilled meat can always put a smile on anyone's face, so why not have a BBQ since we have been having such great weather? This can be done in a simple way. All you will need is a BBQ stand, some food and some drinks then you are ready to go. To make it more interesting you can add some games that your attendees can play such as heads up, general knowledge quizes or tug of war. Although, the global pandemic is not completely over. There are still many ways you can make the most of your summer with the small communities you have around you.
