The WOTC #IPLEDGE Campaign
Words & Interviews Phadria Prendergast
For each WOTC issue, we like to include a meaningful campaign like our most recent; ‘A Letter to My Younger Self’ featuring 33 incredibly inspiring women of colour such as Caroline Watson, Noella Coursaris Musunka, and MP Dawn Butler. You can view this campaign here. For our new campaign titled #IPLEDGE, we wanted to know what 2020 has been like for our women and how they wanted to shape their 2021 by making someone else’s life better. This coming year, we want to be more intentional, but mostly we want to inspire others to do the same by sharing our pledges for good.
The #IPLEDGE campaign features 22 female leaders, who are pioneering change all over the globe from the unbelievable Helena Mendès who has saved the lives of many in Chiapas Mexico, through creating employment and education for its residents, to 17-year-old Christina Adane who petitioned and won against the Government’s ruling to remove free school lunches for over 1 million students. I am so excited to see where she will be in the next five years. Millie Kendall MBE, who has created a platform to provide the British beauty industry with a voice. These are just a few, but I am so elated for you to read about the rest of our women.
I am so very inspired by every single woman included in this campaign, not only for their pledges of change, but their choosing to start, because starting over is never easy (which many of these women have done with incredible resilience), but starting, is sometimes the hardest thing to do. So, Alexia Inge, Bobbi Brown, Caren Fisk, Christina Adane, Debra Charles, Helena Mendès, Irene Forte, Isabella West, Jo Tutchener-Sharp, Mariya Dykalo, Millie Kendall MBE, Pia Stanchina, Ruby Hammer MBE, Ruthie Davis, Sabinna Rachimova, Sallie Berkerey, Sarah Curran-Usher MBE, Shannon Jennings, Vania Leles, Vanita Parti MBE, Whitney Bromberg Hawkings and Yulia Pashevkina, I would like to thank you all once again for choosing to become the inspiring leaders and power players that our readers are now able to see today. I look forward to changing lives with you all in 2021.
