Sustainable Fashion

For brands and designers, sustainable fashion is about producing in a way which always considers people and the environment. The aim is to have a system which ensures your brand does not leave a negative footprint.
For consumers, this means carefully thinking about what you want to buy and whether you really intend to wear that new piece you wish to purchase. It’s also important to know which values you are supporting through each purchase you make.

How can consumers become more sustainable?
The big swap
Clothing swaps are at the top of the list. Don’t just throw it away - give that piece a new home.
Seconds please
Buying second-hand means the item already exists. This immediately cancels out the negative impact brought on by the production process.
Better the clothing you know
Stick with what you have in your wardrobe for longer. Quit buying many items and instead invest in items of quality. FYI, key staples never run out style.
Go vegan... and we aren’t talking food
This option is incredibly environmentally friendly as it reduces the negative impact caused by the use of animals.
Less is really more
Think minimalism! Do you really need that new dress? Have you worn the last one you bought? The answer is probably no right? Stop buying items you don’t need.

How can brands and designers become more sustainable?
Say no to fast fashion! Choose fabrics and materials that last.
Limit the amount of fabric and material that is wasted during the production stage.
Increase your awareness of the impact fabric production causes to the environment. Decide to go green or vegan.
Garment transportation increases your carbon footprint - reduce this by producing locally.
