Eza Borchardt
Eza Borchardt believes that having healthy skin needn't be a complex process and choosing the right products for you needn't be long and tedious. The Brazilian-born beauty-preneur, who had always wanted to launch her own skincare line, learned first-hand the real importance of skincare as a young model in America. "I've always taken care of my skin, but it was during my work as a model that I saw how important it was to take care of your skin because my paycheque depended on it, right? That was back before Photoshop was highly used for editing," she laughed, telling WOTC.
Before setting out to launch her own range, Eza already knew that she wanted her skincare line to be both safe and environmentally friendly. Armed with her extensive knowledge in the business world and having studied biology as a pre-med student, she spent over 12-months researching different labs across the world. "I spoke with labs in Asia, Switzerland, Italy, and even in Brazil," she revealed. As a single mother of two, Eza wasn't interested in creating a ten-step skincare system; she wanted simple, effective, multifunctional formulas that wouldn't break the bank.
"When I was developing the products, I faced a little bit of a conflict because I wanted the line to be minimalist. However, I believe in the power of bioscience and biotechnology, but I also wanted to use oils from Brazil's Amazonian and Atlantic region (for its unparalleled healing abilities). And so, what I did, instead of creating one brand, I created two." (Re)SET is a luminous skincare range boasting a cleanser, moisturizer, and serums that promise to brighten, lift, and rescue you from all your skincare concerns. Eza focused on formulas that would uphold the same quality and potency as users would receive in a med-spa. Much more of an experience rather than simply another product, the range uses freeze-dry technology, a method she discovered during her research stages, which is relatively new to the skincare industry in western countries. However, has been used by NASA and the U.S military for years to sustain food.
"With Amazônica (her second range that she launched in April 2021), I could implement the oils and other high-performance ingredients. The end product is vegan, cruelty-free, clean, and help benefit communities from that region, by connecting consumers from around the world to those communities, through their conscious purchases."
Unlike numerous other skincare ranges and products on the market created with silicone and petroleum-based fillers, which creates a film on the skin that makes the skin appear soft, however, causes allergies and doesn't allow the skin to breathe. Eza worked to remove all fillers and preservatives as the Re(SET) line uses botanical extracts instead of water in its formula. With Amazônica, she replaced the water with hydrosols. She also used oligo-elements (such as copper, manganese, potassium, sodium, and zinc) found in the Brazilian thermal waters to increase the curative properties of the "water-phase."
Re(SET)'s 24k gold derma roller is what dreams are made of, providing users with the same experience of visiting a spa or dermatologist at home - and for a fraction of the price. While Amazônica's Facial Elixir transports you to tropical jungles of Brazil, transforming your beauty routine into a wholistic ritual of self-care.
Soon before she launched (Re)SET, the world was brought to a stop by the pandemic. But Eza is a born survivor who will not quickly back away from her goals. Holding on to her faith, and by being persistent, extremely resourceful, even with little financial resources, she was able to "softly launch" in December of 2020. She hopes that her skincare lines will bring awareness to consumers on ingredients in the formulations and help them realize that they can have healthy and naturally glowing skin minus the clutter of dozen of products.
